Dohar is the smallest upazila of Dhaka district in size. Dohar upazila has 06 unions and 01 municipality. No proper account of the naming of this upazila has been found in history. With the increase in population, the area was upgraded to a thana in 1928 and an upazila in 1983. Somewhere it can be heard that it was established on 15th July, 1918 and after the publication of the gazette notification on 21st September of that year, it can be heard that it was officially transformed into Dohar police station from 1st January, 1917.
Dohar upazila is situated between 23 ° 29 'and 23 ° 42' north latitudes and between 90 ° 59 'and 91 ৫ 05' longitude. It is bounded by nawabganj upazila on the north, srinagar upazila on the south, sadar upazila on the west and nawabganj upazila on the east.
